Big Bass Secrets of the Golden LakeOur commitment: gambling is entertainment, not income
We want you to enjoy our games for as long as they stay enjoyable. Gambling is a form of paid entertainment, and the money you stake is the price of it. Over time the games return less than they take in, so gambling is not a way to earn, to clear debts or to recover money you have already lost.
Before you deposit, decide what you can comfortably afford to lose and treat that figure as the cost of your evening. If losing it would affect your rent, your bills or the people who depend on you, it is too much.
- Set a budget before you play and use the deposit limits in your account to hold yourself to it.
- Decide in advance how long you want to play for, and stop when the time is up rather than when the money is gone.
- Never stake more to win back a loss. Chasing losses is the quickest way for a session to get out of hand.
- Avoid playing when you are upset, tired or have been drinking.
- Keep any winnings separate in your mind from your income, and keep gambling as one thing you do among many.
You must be 18 or over to hold an account with us or to place any stake. We hold a gaming licence for the services we offer and we verify the identity and age of every account holder.
If it has stopped being fun
If you are playing to escape stress, boredom or low mood, the controls described below take effect as soon as you confirm them, and the organisations listed further down cost nothing to contact.
The tools in your account and how to switch them on
Every account includes a set of safer gambling controls. You will find them in the responsible gambling area of the cashier and account settings, and you can open them at any time, including part-way through a session.
| Control | What it does | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | Caps what you can pay in over a day, a week or a month. | At once when lowered; after a cooling-off wait when raised. |
| Loss limit | Caps your net losses over the period you choose, counting returns against stakes. | At once when tightened. |
| Session limit | Signs you out once you reach the length of play you set. | At the end of the session. |
| Time-out | Locks the account for a short break, for one of the periods shown in the cashier. | As soon as you confirm it. |
| Self-exclusion | Closes the account to play for a longer fixed minimum period. | As soon as we process the request. |
| Reality check | Shows an on-screen reminder of how long you have been playing. | At the interval you choose. |
Deposit, loss and session limits
You can run all three limits at the same time. A decrease takes effect immediately. An increase or removal only takes effect after a cooling-off period and, where the limit covers a longer period, once that period has run out, so a decision made in the heat of a session cannot raise your own ceiling.
Time-outs and self-exclusion
A time-out is a short break. While it runs you cannot deposit or stake, we stop sending you marketing, and your balance stays where it is. The account reopens on its own at the end, and a time-out cannot be lifted early.
Self-exclusion is a longer and firmer step. We close the account to play for at least the minimum period shown in the cashier, remove you from marketing lists and take reasonable steps to stop you opening another account with us. It cannot be cancelled while it runs, and when it ends the account stays closed until you ask us to reopen it and a further waiting period has passed. Any remaining funds are returned to you.
Reality checks and your own records
A reality check interrupts play at the interval you set and tells you how long you have been playing. Your account also holds a full history of deposits, withdrawals, stakes and returns, which is often the clearest way to see what your play actually costs.
Switching a control on
- Sign in and open the responsible gambling section of the cashier or account settings.
- Choose the control you want: a deposit, loss or session limit, a reality check, a time-out or self-exclusion.
- Enter the amount, period or interval and confirm it.
- Check the confirmation shown on screen or sent to your e-mail address so you know the control is live.
- If you cannot find a control, ask us on live chat or at support@casinofatbet.co.uk and we will set it up for you.
Signs that gambling may be causing harm
Gambling harm builds up gradually and is easy to explain away. Go through the checklist below honestly, and ask someone who knows you well what they think as well.
- You play for longer, or for more money, than you planned.
- You have borrowed money, sold possessions or used money meant for bills in order to gamble.
- You have raised your stakes to win back what you lost.
- You hide how much you gamble, or play down the figures, when family or friends ask.
- You feel restless, irritable or low when you are not gambling.
- Gambling is affecting your work, your studies, your sleep or your relationships.
- You have tried to cut down or stop and found that you could not.
If even one or two of these sound familiar, set a deposit limit or take a time-out now and speak to one of the organisations below. You do not need to be in crisis to ask for help.
Where to get free, confidential help
The services below are free to use and are not run by us. You need no diagnosis and no referral to contact them, and you can get in touch about someone else's gambling as well as your own.
- GambleAware funds and signposts free advice and treatment across Great Britain and publishes plain-English information for players and for the people around them.
- GamCare offers free counselling, group support and practical guidance, by telephone, online and in person through its partner services.
- GamStop is the free self-exclusion scheme for online gambling in Great Britain: a single registration blocks you from every licensed online operator for the minimum period you choose when you sign up.
- The National Gambling Helpline gives confidential advice and onward referral to anyone affected by gambling, at any hour of the day.
- Your GP, and free debt advice services, can help with the health and money effects of gambling harm alongside any of the above.
Each of these organisations can be found by name online. If you are not sure which one fits your situation, our support team will point you in the right direction on live chat or at support@casinofatbet.co.uk.
Protecting children and others in your household
Nobody under 18 may hold an account, place a stake or take part in a promotion with us. We check age and identity as part of the verification carried out on every account, and we may ask for documents again later. If we find that an account holder is under 18, we close the account, void any winnings and return deposits.
Most underage gambling happens on an adult's device with an adult's account. These steps make that far less likely:
- Never let anyone else use your account, your log-in details or your card.
- Sign out fully when you finish, and do not save your password in a browser other people use.
- Lock your phone, tablet or computer with a PIN, password or fingerprint.
- Consider parental control or content-filtering software, which can block gambling sites on a shared device; many operating systems and home routers include family settings that do the same.
- Keep payment cards and payment apps out of children's reach and check your statements for payments you did not make.
If you think a child has used your account, tell us on live chat or at support@casinofatbet.co.uk straight away and we will secure it while we look into what happened.
